ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Fathers all over the state are being put in the driver seat this morning because it’s “Dads Take Your Child to School Day.”
School districts all over the Capital Region are taking part in the celebration where breakfast will be served in observation of the Day.
The Dads Take Your Child to School Day is part of a nationwide effort to encourage men to be more active in their children’s education, and NEWS10 is expecting to see the parking lot at North Albany Academy full of Dads chauffeuring their kids.
The day also provides a unique opportunity to tell fathers about the services available them and their families like:
- Improving literacy and homework help
- Job Development and Educational Advancement
- Health & Wellness for men and families.
- School safety and volunteer opportunities.
At North Albany Academy, more than 100 fathers and father-figures and their children will be served a home-cooked breakfast. When breakfast is served around 8:30 a.m., Interim Superintendent of Albany School District Kimberly Young Wilkins will be one of the servers honoring those families.
