SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – An 18-year-old Schenectady man was arrested early Sunday morning in connection with two separate shootings which took place earlier in September.
Nyquan Monroe has been charged with 2nd Degree Attempted Murder and 2nd Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon in connection with shootings that took place on September 4 and September 7 on Wabash Avenue and Emmet Street respectively.
Schenectady Police responded to Wabash Avenue on September 4 at 10:56 p.m. for several calls of shots fired. Upon arrival officers located four shell casings in the area.
On September 7, officers responded to 944 Emmett Street for numerous calls reporting several shots fired in the area.
Police say upon arrival officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The man was taken to Ellis Hospital via Mohawk Ambulance.
Police say they located five casings and a handgun in the area of the shooting.
After an investigation, the Schenectady Police Department determined that the same person was responsible for both shootings.
On Saturday, September 17, officers say they located the male suspect near the location of the second shooting and took him into custody.
Monroe is scheduled to be arraigned later this weekend by a Schenectady City Judge.
