ALTAMONT, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Apples, wine, and donuts: All in one place at the Apple and Wine Festival.
Sorry, summer lovers.
The calendar might still be on your side, but for people here, it’s time for fall.
Just ask donut maker, Lynn Gaidusek.
“Everyone gets to see other people, we have people come from all over here,” Gaidusek said. “The vendors are from all over, the wines are from New York state, what could get better than that.”
It’s the 24th annual Apple and Wine Festival at the Altamont Fairgrounds.
For Keri Abbrauzzese, it’s a family thing.
“This is my family’s business,” said bakery manager, Keri Abbrauzzese. “I’ve been helping out for about 20 years now. I started when I was about 5 years old helping my aunt. It just makes me proud to be part of my family as crazy as we all are sometimes.”
Working side by side, these two ladies are cooking up food guaranteed to make you smile.
But what’s a wine festival without wine?
“We take a lot of pride in our wines and we really like when we get compliments for it, it makes us feel proud.” said Ashley Lynn Winery manager, Michelle Hurlburt.
Michelle Hurlburt is a manager with Ashley Lynn Winery, a family business.
“I actually went to college for Criminal Justice for two years and I decided that I already have the perfect set up at home so I decided to stick with the winery,” said Hurlburt.
They’ve traveled from Mexico, N.Y. to join in on the action.
“Well, I really like our customers and I like how they try our wines and they love them,” Hurlburt said.
It’s just one of many wineries here, coming from all corners of the state.
Between the wine, the food, and the fun, there’s really only one way to describe it all.
“Delicious,” Gaidusek said.
So what goes into making a donut?
Well long before you have this, you start over here with this.
You use this mix and that creates the donut. It then goes down this line and comes out over here.
You then take it and, for the best part, put it into here to add the sugar.
Now you have the best donut at a great fair.
