Crews respond to structure fire on Platt St. in Glens Falls, third one this week

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Three people are displaced after a 4-alarm fire at a home in Glens Falls.

The Glens Falls fire chief says it started on the back side of the home.

As you can see, they’ve gotten the fire and smoke under control.

Now, the chief says the call came in just before 7 p.m.

Upon arrival, they found heavy fire in the rear of the building.

One resident was still inside on the second floor.

Crews assisted her out.

The chief says it only took them about an hour to get the fire under control.

It was a two-apartment building, where three people lived.

The chief says all are now without a home.

The first floor has minor damage but the second floor was heavily damaged by the fire.

The chief assumes they’ll only be at the scene for another half hour to an hour as investigators continue to search for evidence as to what may have caused the fire.

Also, this is the third fire in one week in Glens Falls.

The chief tells me that it was very unusual and says this building probably suffered the least amount of damage.
