SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Union College football team did something over the weekend it hadn’t done since November 2014 – win.
The Dutchmen ran for over 200 yards and forced five turnovers en route to the 15-point win over Western Connecticut State. Sophomore linebacker Jack Reilly said it felt good to get that proverbial monkey off the team’s back.
Moving forward, Union will look to make it two in a row on Saturday when the team hosts Western New England at Frank Bailey Field.
First year head coach Jeff Behrman thinks his team is headed in the right direction.
“These guys are trending upward right now just in terms of their preparation the way they are handling everything,” he said. “I mean, honestly, that game was over for them Sunday when they waked in the doors and came on this football field. And that was a sign to me of a mature football team and a team that I’m happy to be coaching right now.”
Kickoff is scheduled for noon on Saturday.
