ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New water infrastructure in Pine Hills aims to help prevent flooding and reduce pollution in the Hudson River.

State and local leaders gathered at Albany’s Woodlawn Park to announce the beginning of the construction which was pursued after many area homes flooded in the wake of a storm two years ago.

Mayor Kathy Sheehan says the work will minimize future flooding and sewer overflows.

Newly constructed wetlands and underground water detention tanks are projected to detain more than 1,200 gallons of water.
