KANSAS CITY, Kan. (NEWS10) – A man was accused of robbing a bank in Kansas City last Friday, but it was his reason for it that surprised police.
He allegedly told them he would rather go to jail than go back home to his wife.
Lawrence John Ripple, 70, walked into a local bank earlier that day and passed a note to a teller stating that he had a gun, and demanded money.
Rather than fleeing the scene, Ripple sat in the bank’s lobby and told police once they arrived, that he was the perpetrator.
Ripple was charged with bank robbery on Tuesday.
