Start the Fire: Gathering of the Tribes annual pow-wow happens this weekend

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Native American is a large part of our country’s history and this weekend there is a way that you can connect and learn more.

We’re talking about The Gathering of the Tribes Pow-Wow happening Saturday morning.

The event is a festival that lasts two days. It brings Native American tribes, mixed blood, and non-natives together to help spread the knowledge of their history and culture.

Pow Wows are the Native American people’s way of meeting together, to join in dancing, singing, visiting, renewing old friendships, and making new ones. This is a time method to renew Native American culture and preserve the rich heritage of American Indians. Open to the public and everyone’s invited. Bring the kids, and enjoy the wonderful experience. I will be there selling my Authentic Blue Corn Frybread & Navajo Tacos.

There’s going to be a native village, dancing, drumming, vendors, animals, storytelling and a whole lot more.

It’s only $5 a person, kids under 12 are free, and it all starts Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
