SARATOGA, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Saratoga Springs Police Department says it’s providing free firearm safety kits to people in the city.
There will be 40 of them available through a partnership with Moms Demand Action and Project ChildSafe, the nationwide firearms safety education program.
Project Childsafe is a program developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, has distributed more than 36 million firearm safety kits throughout the country since 2003.
You can get a Project ChildSafe safety kit so that you can securely store your firearm from your children.
Each kit contains a safety curriculum and a cable-style gun lock. The lock fits on most types of handguns, rifles and shotguns.
The goal is to prevent a child or any other unauthorized person from accessing a firearm in your home.
By partnering with Project ChildSafe, Moms Demand Action and the Saratoga Springs Police Department are participating in a national effort to promote firearms safety education to all gun owners.
