Little leaguer hits surprise homerun for cancer battling mom

(ABC NEWS) — This home run couldn’t have come at a more perfect moment.

J.T. Garcia of the Iowa All-Stars hit a homerun at the Little League World Series while his mother, who is battling pancreatic cancer, was watching.

She also happened to be speaking to ESPN at the same time.

The interview captured the heartwarming moment, almost bringing her and NEWS10 ABC to tears! Watch it all unfold below.

J.T.’s mom, Jen says she’s been battling cancer since December 1 of 2015. This year the team donned purple bracelets that say ‘Jen’s Prayer Team Proverb 17:17’ meaning “Friends standing by each other in hard times.”

After scoring the home-run, J.T. gave his mom the homerun ball.

“Baseball has brought normalcy to this family,” Jen says almost crying. “Just having that has been really helpful and he’s a great kid.”

Oh yea – and J.T.’s team won the game.
