Vermont increasing access to Narcan to help prevent overdoses

VERMONT (NEWS10) – The state of Vermont is now making it easier to get a drug that can reverse Heroin overdoses.

The State Health Department said they’re hoping to push more Naloxone, commonly known as Narcan, out to addicts, drug users, and their family and friends.

The drug is a nasal spray administered to someone in the middle of an overdose.

Screenings are not required to get the drug in overdose prevention kits.

Just from last weekend alone, there were ten recovered overdoses, one being fatal, in Vermont.
