Man, 26, not hurt after falling 30 feet off Vroman’s Nose

FULTON, N.Y. (AP) — An upstate New York man emerged unscathed after authorities say he plunged about 30 feet off a hiking trail.

The Schohorie County Sheriff’s Department says emergency crews were called to Fulton just before 1 p.m. Sunday after a male slipped and fell off Vroman’s Nose hiking trail in the Town of Fulton. The caller reported that the subject fell about 30 feet to a ledge below.

A member of the Schoharie County Search and Rescue Team was lowered to 26-year-old Jessie Papas of Middleburgh and brought him back up to the top of the trail. The man told authorities he wasn’t injured and was released after being examined.

Crews involved include the Scho-Wright Ambulance, County EMO Director Mike Hartzel, County Fire Coordinator Matt Brisley, a County Paramedic, the County Search and Rescue Team, Huntersland and Conesville Fire Departments with their off road rescue vehicles, the Canajoharie and Rural Grove Fire Departments Rope Rescue Team from Montgomery County. The New York State Urban Search and Rescue team was also requested.\
