COHOES, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A Capital Region city will receive a grant that will help it take on new projects in one neighborhood.
Cohoes has authorized accepting more than $300,000 from New York State to go toward funding the Delaware Avenue Project. The money will help install street lights, curbing and adding new handicap accessible sidewalks.
Mayor Shawn Morse said the city should receive bids for the project as soon as September. He said the area has become busier, and the improvements will help keep pedestrians safe.
“There’s a lot of things happening in Cohoes for the good,” he said. “The city is buzzing from every part of our community – from the city to the island – working on things on the hill area of the city, and this is just one example of many good things taking place.”
The mayor said he hopes the work will begin by spring.
