Albany Int’l to receive over $3M for infrastructure improvements

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Albany International Airport will be making significant infrastructure upgrades through federal funding.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, and Congressman Paul Tonko announced the Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration awarded more than $3 million to the airport.

The money will go toward the design and construction of three passenger boarding bridges, which will help passengers move through the airport more efficiently.

Tonko said the following in a statement:

This is a big win for Albany International. Our local airports are huge drivers of the local economy, and ensuring that they have the tools they need to provide safe and convenient travel to the business community and leisure travelers is critical to achieve the economic growth that we are all working toward in our region. I applaud John O’Donnell and his team at Albany International for the important work they do each and every day.
