Rodriguez was suspended through 2014 that day when Major League Baseball disciplined 13 players in a drug case. A lawyer says his firm has settled its lawsuit accusing Rodriguez of failing to pay legal bills stemming from the Biogenesis scandal. Peter Siachos of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani said Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, the suit was settled "amicably" this month. He declined to disclose the terms. Rodriguez was suspended for the 2014 season after then-Commissioner Bud Selig concluded he violated the sport's drug agreement and labor contract. Gordon Rees had claimed it helped get Rodriguez's original 211-game suspension reduced to 162 games in arbitration. (AP Photo/Charles Cherney, File)

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – For over 20 years baseball fans have watched Alex Rodriguez and Friday night he says goodbye to the game of baseball.

So we wanted to know, what do fans think?

He’s a three-time MVP, World Series Champion, polarizing athlete.

How would you describe A-Rod?

“Amazing athlete.”
“Flashy”
“A gamer”
“Steroids”
“Selfish”

Wow, okay then. C’mon, he made a big impact on the game right?

“No, I wouldn’t say so. I mean Derek Jeter is a legend. A-Rod is retiring before the season ends, so that speaks volumes right there.”

“I think the game is going to miss the talent, but the extracurricular activities we can do without.”

Oh right, the whole steroid thing.

“He had a downside, we all know about his downside. But he was one of a whole bunch of players who had a downside.”

That’s fair. He isn’t the only one with a checkered history.

What about the accomplishments?

“Yeah, the guys got talent obviously. He made it to the show.”

“I think he should have been a hall of famer. Even as a Red Sox fan, he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.”

So, saying goodbye at Yankee Stadium, that’s a fitting farewell, right?

“I think it’s awesome. I think he deserves to go out with applause and the Yankees should send him out in style.”

“I think he should have retired 5 years ago.”

We’ll all just have to agree to disagree.

“So there you have it. A-Rod’s career is coming to an end.  So grab a drink and enjoy the game.”
