4 new officers sworn into Albany Police Department

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Four brand new officers in Albany are ready to step up into their new roles.

The officers were sworn in at a ceremony on Friday at Albany City Hall.

They were joined by Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Albany Police Chief Brendan Cox.

Mayor Sheehan spoke to community relations and building trust while protecting the men and women in blue.

“It’s part of their daily life, but that interaction they have with an individual has a deep impact on them,” Mayor Sheehan said. “The professionalism of the department sets it apart in respect to those interactions that they have with the public.”

The four new members were sworn in and come to Albany from other departments.

Also recognized, one current member of the Department was promoted to the rank of sergeant.
