SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Police say the naked, pregnant woman who was found lying on the ground on Tuesday night jumped from the second floor intentionally.
On August 9 the Schenectady Police Department responded to the area of 924 Delamont Ave. in Schenectady around 7 p.m. for a report of a female lying of the ground not moving. The woman was seen by witnesses on the second floor porch before the police arrived.
She was treated on scene by members of the Schenectady Fire Department and transported to Ellis Hospital via Mohawk Ambulance.
Officials say the female was pregnant at the time of the incident and staff at Ellis Hospital were able to deliver the child, however both the female and child were pronounced dead late Tuesday night.
Members of the Schenectady Police Department’s Detective Division investigated the incident and it was determined that this was intentional act.
One woman who saw the incident says she saw the woman, who was pregnant, running around without clothes on before she jumped and landed on her back.
“To me, it’s pretty shocking,” Christine Sukhrha said. “It doesn’t happen on this block. It’s pretty shocking that something like this would happen. It blew my mind that someone would do that.”
The woman’s name is not being released. There will be no further information released in regards to this incident.
