WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A knife attack on a Watervliet man has been traced to his daughter and a knife she allegedly stole from a bar.
The incident took place around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
“We believe she was in the bar at the time, and then went into the kitchen area and had taken a knife out,” Acting Watervliet Police Chief Mark Spain said.
Spain said Gonzalez-Ortiz made the five minute walk to her father’s 19th Street apartment with the knife in her hand. She’s then accused of slashing him and causing deep cuts to his forearms and elbows.
“Based on the injuries and the nature of the crime, you would think that were was probably some anger involved,” Spain said.
Spain said her father ran out of the back door to get away, and someone called 911. A short time later, Gonzalez-Ortiz was arrested without incident while covered in blood, police said.
