Man pleads guilty to possessing illegal weapon after Albany shooting

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A man pleaded guilty for possessing an illegal weapon following a shooting in Albany’s Arbor Hill neighborhood in March.

According to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, Lamar Herring, 25, shot five rounds from a weapon into a crowd of people and was in illegal possession of a loaded .32 caliber handgun at the time of the shooting.

No one was injured in the shooting.

Herring pleaded guilty to 2nd degree criminal possession of a weapon in Albany County Supreme Court on Monday.

He faces 13 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.

Herring is scheduled to be sentenced in September.
