SHANGHAHI (NEWS10) – A local basketball phenom is headed to China.
Jimmer Fredette agreed to a one-year deal with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association. The team is owned by former NBA big man Yao Ming.
Fredette has been unable to find a steady role in the NBA since being selected tenth overall in the 2011 draft. The sharp shooter from Glens Falls most recently played for the New York Knicks last season on a 10-day contract.
Fredette also put up solid numbers in summer league play. He could potentially join an NBA team for the second half of the season.
