Averill Park family displaced from home by destructive fire

AVERILL PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A family in Averill Park has been displaced after a devastating fire burned through their home Sunday morning.

The Poestenkill Fire Department says the initial call for a structure fire came in around 10:00 a.m.

When fire fighters reached the home on Vosburgh Road officials say there was already a fire condition throughout the entire house, with flames evident out of every window.

Fire officials say upon arrival at the scene they spoke with neighbors who told them that the two adults and three children living in the house were able to get themselves out without any help.

The Rensselaer Fire Investigations Unit is still working to determine the cause of the fire.

The American Red Cross says volunteers from their Northeastern New York Chapter provided immediate emergency aid, including shelter, food, and clothing to the family displaced by the fire.
