Police: Woman charged in bathtub drowning of infant daughter

MARLBORO, N.Y. (AP) — A Hudson Valley woman has been charged in the death of her infant daughter who drowned in a bathtub.

State police say 25-year-old Kayla Pagan was arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide on Saturday, one day after police say the Marlboro woman left her 10-month-old baby unsupervised in the bathtub for an unreasonable amount of time while the tub filled with water.

Police say the baby’s father came home from work and attempted CPR before the infant was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Pagan remains in Ulster County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail and is due in court on Tuesday.

It couldn’t immediately be learned from authorities if she has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
