SAN DIEGO, Calif. (NEWS10) – An 8-year-old from Slingerlands competed in a national athletics competition on Monday.
The Pitch, Hit and Run Competition took place in San Diego, and Tyler Witazek competed for the national title.
His mom, Maria, said Tyler didn’t put on his usual performance and finished in third place. She said Tyler was a little upset with himself because he wanted to win it all.
But to be in the top three nationwide is a great accomplishment, and Monday night, he got the chance to shag balls for the Home Run Derby. He will also get to attend the All-Star game on Tuesday.
