Friends react to the murder of Kevin Jenks

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – One red rose sits in memoriam for Kevin Jenks as his family and friends trying to come to terms with his death.

There are still many unanswered questions surrounding Jenks death.

“Why did they do this,” Stephanie Willette, of Fort Edward, said. “Why did they have to? Why? Why?”

“None of us. None of us can put our heads around it. We just can’t,” Pam Cornell, of Queensbury, said.

A group of Kevin Jenks friends and co workers still trying to understand his death. Glens Falls Police say the 58-year-old was strangled to death in his Dix Avenue home, his body found by his daughter on Thursday.

Police arrested and charged Kevin Chapman with 2nd degree murder and burglary. 45-year-old Robert Henry now faces the same charges.

Police say they believe Jenks knew Henry.

“I never heard Kevin mention the name,” Cornell said. “I don’t know how long he had been a friend, had he been over there once or twice?”

Police say the two men stole items from Jenks, some which were later recovered when the pair were arrested.

Willette says she’s deeply troubled because she says Jenks rings he wore every day were also stolen…

“I do believe that they were all taken on him and they were all very sentimental and meant a lot to Kevin and they also meant a lot to his daughter and she’s very upset that she doesn’t have them to send with him,” Willette said.

“I hope they rot. I really do. Me I would hope that we had the death penalty,” Cornell said. “Whatever happens there’s somebody up there that’s going to make right.”

For now Jenks friends say they’re trying to find a way to honor his memory, looking at photos today of their annual trips to Hampton beach is a start.

“He was one of the drivers he was like one of the girls too with us. Loved it. Loved it. He made the trip. He absolutely made the trip,” Cornell said.

Glens Falls Police say the case is still an ongoing investigation. At this time, they do not believe anyone else was involved in the homicide.
