TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A water main break in Troy shut down a major road on Monday.
The eight inch main broke around 4:30 p.m. Monday at the corner of Hutton Street and River Street. Troy police closed off the roads and diverted traffic as the Department of Public Works isolated the break and shut off the water.
The city is not a stranger to water main breaks. Recently, the city council passed a law that makes it more difficult to take money out of the water fund to cover other, unrelated expenses.
The roads were reopened Monday night.
