Officials: Another car set on fire overnight in Schoharie County

SCHOHARIE, NY (NEWS10) – A fire broke out at 693 Baldwin Road in Schoharie early Monday morning.

The fire started around 2:30am and crews are still on the scene.

Fire investigators have told NEWS10 ABC this is already being called suspicious because it happened two doors down form a series of other suspicious fires last week.

This is the third time firefighters have been called to Baldwin Road in the last week or so. NEWS10 ABC was there Tuesday morning for the fires at a home just about a quarter mile down the road.

That address was 665 Baldwin Road; this time it’s 693.

The fire happened again in the middle of the night just after 2:30 a.m. The car was still smoldering around 4:30 a.m.

Firefighters say it appears one car was set on fire and then spread to a car parked next to it in the driveway. There was also damage to the siding of the home because of the heat.

The Schoharie County Sheriff is on scene, as well as State Police, State Fire Investigators and county fire investigators. A K9 unit is also sniffing around.

State Police say they are handling the investigation, but it’s too soon to know if the two fires are related.

News10ABC’s reporter Samantha DiMascio is on scene and will have live updates throughout the morning.
