Two hikers taken to the hospital after Thacher Park rescue operation

VOORHEESVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Two hikers were taken to the hospital Saturday evening after a rescue operation in the John Boyd Thacher State Park.

Police say the call came in just after 3 p.m.

According to police, the hikers did not fall off a cliff or from any kind of height, but rather were walking and fell on the ground.

The sheriff’s office says a more extensive rescue operation was required to reach and rescue the victims due to their location on a trail inside the park.

There is no information at this time concerning the victims’ condition or injuries.

Two ambulance companies, New Salem Fire Department, Albany County Sheriff’s Office, NYS Park Police, and Albany County Medics responded to the scene.
