GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Glens Falls basketball star Joseph Girard III had a dominant freshman season. He averaged over 30 points per game and scored above 1000 total points. On Saturday morning, he was rewarded for his success.
Girard III received his second college scholarship offer from University at Albany head coach Will Brown.
Joe is considered one of the country’s top 100 rising sophomores.
He spoke to NEWS10 ABC about finding out the big news Saturday.
“I was very excited,” he said. “I like UAlbany. I watch them whenever I can and it’s a great program. It’s just a really cool feeling to get an offer from the Great Danes.”
Girard III has one other offer from High Point University in North Carolina. However, he has also garnered other interest from big time schools like Siena, Michigan, BYU, George Washington, Syracuse, Vermont and Davidson.
Joe says despite other potential landing spots he will consider UAlbany when it comes time to make a decision.
“I’m keeping all of my options open and knowing that UAlbany’s local and they were with me from the beginning, it’s definitely going to be a factor.”
