WASHINGTON (NEWS10) – Senator Chuck Schumer is urging Congress to pass an emergency funding bill to help fight the Zika virus in Upstate New York.

Schumer says that with 33 confirmed cases of the virus in Upstate New York and more than 300 across the state, it’s important to get the $1.9 billion in federal funding passed before the Senate breaks for recess.

He says hospitals, medical providers and public health systems need immediate access to this money to protect pregnant mothers and their children before it is too late.
