SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – According to BOCES Regional Summer School, officials investigated reports of a student having a BB gun and two other students having knives at the school.
In a letter sent to parents, Executive Principal Michael Kondratowicz says when the administration became aware that a student may have possessed a BB gun, administration officials immediately contacted the Rotterdam Police Department. Police are now conducting an investigation.
While investigating the BB gun incident, two other students were found to have knives. Both knives were confiscated by school officials.
Kondratowicz says the students will not be returning to the Regional Summer School Program.
“We can assure you that a possession of weapon on school grounds is unacceptable,” Kondratowicz said in the letter to parents. “The district policy is simple: we do not tolerate violence, weapons, or the threat of weapons in our schools.”
The Summer School Program serves students from Guilderland, Mohonasen, Schalmont, Scotia-Glenvill, and Voorheesville.
