CARLISLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Schoharie County Sheriff’s Department says they’ve made an arrested involving a subject who fled into the woods off Dibble Hollow Road.
Police say Tashar Thomas, 21, from Richmondville, N.Y., entered a home of his 16-year-old girlfriend when he was not allowed to.
Thomas is accused of spending the night inside the residence, despite the order of protection to stay away from the girl by the Schoharie County Town Court on June 29, 2016.
Police say the girl’s parents were not are of his actions or presence inside the home until July 6.
Once one of the parents became aware, according to police, contacted them and then confronted Thomas.
During the confrontation, police say the girl assaulted her mother, allowing Thomas to flee into the woods.
A ground search was then conducted by New York State Police, Schoharie County Sheriff’s Department, and the New York State Environmental Conservation Police.
Thomas is charged with 2nd degree burglary, endangering the welfare of a child, and 2nd criminal contempt.
The girl is being charged with 3rd degree assault in the incident.
Both were arraigned and were remanded to Schoharie County Jail in lieu of bail.
