SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Mastroianni Brothers Bakery announced it is closing after 90 years in business.
According to CEO and Chief Marketing Officer Warren Zeiser, the board of directors decided to close the business due to several years of substantial financial losses.
“It is with the deepest regret that upon advice from council, the board has decided to shut down operations,” Zeiser said. “I want to say thank you to the entire Mastroianni family for creating this wonderful organization. Their legacy will forever be ingrained in the Schenectady community. Most importantly, I want to offer our eternal gratitude to the generations of insanely loyal customers who have supported us throughout the years.”
The bakery employed approximately 50 people in the local area, with many being part of the company for 15 to 20 years.
Zeiser says while the bakery has fully shut down operations, it is working with another investment group to try and bring back the company.
