Fort Plain Mayor to be remembered, honored by people of his community

FORT PLAIN, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The man who served as mayor of a local community for the past 11 years will be remembered by the people of his community.

Fort plain Mayor Guy Barton died Friday after a brief illness. He was 69.

Barton was a true public servant. He was the mayor, a village trustee, a school bus driver and member of the Fort Plain Fire Department for 50 years running.

The memorial service begins at 6 p.m. It will be held at the gymnasium at the Harry Hoag School on High Street in Fort Plain.
