Law being put in place in Vermont for Genetically Modified foods

VERMONT (NEWS10) – A law is going into effect in Vermont Friday that will require Genetically Modified Food to be labeled as such.

Family owned and chain grocery stores, along with co-ops and food companies, said they’re ready to comply with this law but it may be preempted by federal legislation.

Last week, the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee announced a compromise bill that would force GMO labeling nationwide but with less strict requirements than Vermont’s law.
