WASHINGTON D.C. (NEWS10) — The Senate has blocked a $1.1 billion dollar bill to fight the Zika Virus here in the United States.

The vote of 52 to 48 fell short of the 60 needed.

The bill would have cut $750 million from other health programs to help develop a vaccine and pay for mosquito control.

Lawmakers now have just two weeks to reach a new deal before going on a seven-week summer recess.
