National Grid: Power restored to majority of Latham customers


LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – National Grid says power has been restored to the majority of customers in Latham, after a downed wire cut power to approximately 2,200 customers.

National Grid says they received a 911 call reporting a down wire and a small fire at their substation in Colonie around 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Fire officials responded to the call and were able to put out the small fire caused by the downed wire.

National Grid says initially just under 2,200 customers were affected by the outage, but National Grid was able to restore power to all but approximately 700 customers.

There may be scattering of remaining outages in the area, but National Grid says as of 9:45 the majority of affected customers in Latham should have power back.
