A woman is dead after a head-on crash on Hawaii Island involving a Ford F-150 and a compact car.
It happened just after 5 p.m. on Mamalahoa Highway (Highway 11) near the 21-mile marker.
Officials say an off-duty fire captain pulled the female driver out of the sedan and initiated CPR. She did not survive.
An infant child in a car seat was taken to the hospital.
The truck’s male driver was not hurt.
Firefighters say both vehicles suffered extensive front-end damage.
