Man arrested, charged with attempted murder following Wednesday night incident in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, NY (NEWS10) – 26-year-old Tyheem Smith was arrested for his involvement in the incident on Eastern Ave. in Schenectady.

On Wednesday June 15th, at around 9:56 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Eastern Ave and Irving St. for a report of a male lying on the ground covered in blood.

Malik Zulu was located by responding officers who had sustained a significant injury to his chest.

Zulu was treated on scene by members of the Schenectady Fire Department and taken to Ellis hospital by ambulance.

Smith has been charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Class B Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, Class A Misdemeanor.

Zulu suffered a stab wound to the chest and is still in serious condition at Ellis Hospital.
