ORLANDO, Fla. (ABC NEWS) – An Orlando doctor posted an emotional post on Facebook following the massacre that killed 49 people at Pulse nightclub early Sunday morning.
Dr. Joshua Corsa, a Senior Resident in the Department of Surgery at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, wrote about seeing his shoes after treating more than 50 patients injured in the shooting.
“On these shoes, soaked between its fibers, is the blood of 54 innocent human beings,” Dr. Corsa said.
ABC News reports that Dr. Corsa plans on keeping these shoes in his office as a testament to the work of medical and hospital staff.
“I want to see them in front of me every time I go to work,” Dr. Corsa said. “For on June 12, after the worst of humanity reared its evil head, I saw the best of humanity come fighting right back. I never want to forget that night.”
Twenty-seven patients are still being treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
