TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A New York man was found guilty of 1st degree sexual abuse on Monday.
According to Rensselaer County District Attorney Joel Abelove, Andre McClenos, 56, was convicted by the jury after a weeks-long trial.
“Thanks to the brave actions of this victim and the hard work of the Troy Police, this dangerous defendant will be removed from our streets,” DA Abelove said. “My office will seek the maximum punishment allowed by law, as well as an order of protection for the victim.”
In 2014, McClenos was accused of taking a woman from a bus stop at the intersection of Hoosick and 6th Streets in Troy. He then led the victim to an isolated lot located at 5th Avenue and Jacob Street, held her down and subjected her to sexual contact.
McClenos will face a maximum of seven years in prison and up to 10 years post supervision release. He will also have to register as a sex-offender.
He will be sentenced at the end of July.
