Construction workers accused of torturing co-worker for hours appeared in court

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Four men accused of torturing a co-worker for hours at a local motel appeared in court Monday night.

The incident happened at the Days Inn on Albany Shaker Road in Colonie on Sunday, June 5.

Police say Mark Skaggs, 33, of Anstede, W.Va., Michael Grimmett, 32, of Ansted Va., Shane McCallister, 29, of Mount Lookout W.Va., and Dallas Fox, 43, of Hickory, N.C., punched, kicked, stabbed, and bit the victim.

The victim is recovering at Albany Medical Center with cuts all over his body, including his genital area. He was able to be interviewed by police last week.

Police believe they know why the alleged assault took place.

“The main crux of the story is that the suspects were not happy with him about his work ethic, and also some phone calls that he made back to West Virginia to their family about things that they were doing in this area,” Winn said. “And it appears the assault was retribution for those actions by the victim.”

Police said the victim knows the alleged assailants because his girlfriend is related to three of them. She’s also the woman who called the desk clerk.

The four men are being held in Albany County Jail without bail.
