Three teens lead police on two county car chase

NEW LEBANAN, N.Y. (NEWS10) – State Police say three juveniles from the Berkshire Farm Center in Canaan led police on a car chase across Columbia and Northern Dutchess Counties late Friday night.

Police say the three teens, aged 14 and 15, had walked away from the Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth in Canaan, NY earlier Friday afternoon.

Police say the teens then burglarized a local residence and stole a 2015 Toyota Camry.

The vehicle was reported stolen, and within minutes State Troopers in the Town of New Lebanon spotted the car, and tried to pull it over.

Police say the driver refused to stop and continued to drive, followed by members of the State Police, and members of three different area sheriff’s offices.

The chase ended with the teens drove off CR-70 in the Town of Pine Plains and the car became disabled.

The three teens had been court committed to Berkshire farms and police say they have since been relocated to a secure facility in the Capital District.

State Police officials say they will be petitioned as juvenile delinquents, facing numerous felony allegations.
