Thousands lace up their sneakers for a good cause at the Capital Region Heart walk

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Despite the rainy weather, thousands came out for the Capital Region Heart Walk.

The walk took place at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. People were raising money to fight heart disease and strokes.

Families from all over the Capital Region walked to show their support and honor those who have died because of heart disease.

“The heart association has always been very important to us. When I was 17, my dad died at the age I am right now. It has also impacted a lot of other families so we like to come raise money,” said walker Heather Rogers.

At this year’s walk, 7-year-old Eliana Clem, who was born with four heart defects, was honored as the Heart Princess of the year.

News10ABC sends there congrats to Eliana.
