ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash on the Thruway Thursday afternoon.
Lanes between Exit 22 (Selkirk) and Exit 23 (I-787/Route 9W) were reopened around 5:30 p.m. after being closed for several hours.
Police say at 12:15 p.m. they were called to a fatal accident which occurred northbound, involving a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer.
The 2003 motorcycle rider was 43-year-old William Walsh from Cairo, N.Y.
Police say the truck driver was uninjured. He is identified as 62-year-old Randy Hilliker, from Scotia. The truck is a 2013 Peterbuilt owned by Adirondack Beverages.
The accident was reconstructed by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU).
The accident is still under investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
