GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – While local basketball legend Jimmer Fredette continues to try and find his spot in the NBA, he hasn’t forgotten where he came from.
The Glens Falls native is back in Upstate New York for the weekend to host the first ever Jimmerosity Jam Shooting Competition at Glens Falls High School.
Boys, girls and adults took part in foul shooting, three-point shooting, and Jimmer-range shooting events. On Saturday, Fredette will host a three-on-three tournament.
But when it came to Friday’s contest, he was excited to help kids with “his” shot.
“I’ve always been known as a shooter and love to do that, so I wanted to bring that to the kids here in this area – to have a little competition with them, have a little fun with them,” he said. “Obviously, in the NBA, the three-point shot is a huge advantage, and in college it’s really big. So, you know, you have to be able to shoot from the outside now. So you may as well start early.”
