SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A special prosecutor will be appointed to investigate Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy.
District Attorney Robert Carney confirms to NEWS10 ABC he sent an affirmation to a judge asking him to appoint the prosecutor.
A woman claims Mayor McCarthy followed her in his car to the police station and says he appeared drunk.
McCarthy admits to he followed the woman because he says she was acting suspiciously, but denies he was drunk.
Councilman Vince Riggi requested an outside investigation earlier this week.
