SAUGERTIES, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say a man is accused of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend.
Officials say at 9:43 p.m. Tuesday night Saugerties Police responded to 26 Randle Court in the Town of Saugerties for an abandon 911 call.
When they got there police found 24-year-old Amy Burger on the floor within the residence, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Koran Bowden, the estranged boyfriend of Burger, was taken into custody by officers and transported to the Saugerties Police Headquarters where he was charged with the Felonies of Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Firearm in the Second Degree. Bowden was arranged in the Town of Saugerties Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail without Bail.
Bowden is scheduled to reappear in the Saugerties Town Court on Wednesday.
The Saugerties Police were assisted in the investigation by members of the NY State Police BCI, Uniform Division, and the Forensic Investigation Unit in addition to both uniform members and detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
