Motorcyclist identified after being killed in crash on Albany Shaker Road

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – One person has died as a result of an accident in Colonie on Thursday.

The accident took place around 8:07 p.m. in the eastbound lane on Albany Shaker Rd at the intersection with Old Wolf Rd. 

Police said the accident involved a 2014 Kia SUV and a 2013 Suzuki motorcycle. The motorcyclist was killed on impact. He is being identified as 44-year-old Jude Marzano of Rexford. 

The driver of the SUV was a 64-year-old Schenectady resident. She was taken to the hospital to be evaluated, but she didn’t appear to have any injuries, according to police.

Lt. Ken Pero with the Colonie Police Department said the investigation into what happened has just begun.

“We’re really early in the investigation,” he said. “We still have to get our witnesses and our one driver situated so we can get statements from them. But at this time, the only thing I can tell you is that we have one man deceased who was riding the motorcycle.”

Traffic on Albany Shaker Road was closed for several hours while police investigated and reconstructed the scene.

Police are unsure if alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.

The Colonie Police Traffic Safety unit is continuing with the investigation.
