Schenectady officer accused of fleeing police sentenced to community service

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A Schenectady Police officer accused of fleeing police was sentenced to community service on Friday.

Aaron Zampella pleaded guilty to imprudent speed and failure to obey an officer.

He was granted a conditional discharge for one year, 10 hours of community service, and $186 in surcharges.

In March, police tried to stop Zampella on Broadway for speeding. Zampella is accused of taking off, but eventually stopped on Campbell Avenue.

Zampella was not on duty at the time of the incident. Police say alcohol was not involved.
