SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Union baseball team took off on Tuesday with its sights set on a national title but not before Jake Fishman doubled up on year-end awards.
The Liberty League named the junior both Pitcher of the Year and Player of the Year.
From the plate, Fishman hit .371 on the year. On the mound, he’s undefeated at 7-0 and notching 73 strikeouts. He leads the nation with a 0.31 ERA. His arm is the team’s biggest weapon heading into the NCAA Regionals.
“I definitely have a little bit of pressure, but I don’t let it bother me,” Fishman said. “I just go out there and do what I do every time. I’m just really excited to get out there and face some of the best competition in the country.”
Fishman was one of eight Dutchmen to earn all-league honors. Six RPI players were also named to all-league teams.
